Learn to explain how a system works, what happens when it fails, and why you chose its design. Start with the fundamentals, then follow concrete examples through progressively drawn whiteboards. Each module introduces its principles, builds one example from beginning to end, and finishes with practice.

Your learning path
- System design foundations — a social-media photo feed.
- APIs and data modeling — a lending library.
- Capacity, performance and scaling — a URL shortener.
- Caches, storage and data tradeoffs — a popular pin.
- Reliability and recovery — a file-storage service.

- Tested implementation and capstone — an order-processing experiment.
Before you begin
You should know basic programming; no prior architecture experience is needed. Basic C# and the .NET 10 SDK are needed for the optional local code exercise. Its concepts are also explained through diagrams and state traces. No paid cloud account is required.
How to study
Watch each module’s six lessons in order. Then attempt the quiz and design challenge before comparing your reasoning with the worked solution. Pause, replay and redraw the example whenever needed. This is a self-paced course with no live coaching or instructor grading. The C# lab is a local teaching simulation, not a deployable production service.
